The Novotel and Ibis Melbourne Central at 399 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, is a dual-brand hotel and is not only known for its exceptional services but also for its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
Hotels are notoriously energy-intensive, with heating and cooling typically accounting for a significant portion of the electricity bill, often ranging from 40% to 60%. SCSA collaborated with Accor Hotels to implement a series of advanced energy-saving solutions.
SCSA integrated a sophisticated controls system with the hotel’s existing heat recovery system. This integration optimised the operation of the heat recovery system and included a domestic hot water offset.
The implemented solutions resulted in a substantial reduction of 150-300kW over the three months following the upgrade, significantly lowering the hotel’s overall energy consumption.
SCSA provided real-time visibility into energy and water usage, along with comprehensive energy management reporting. This transparency allowed for ongoing monitoring and further optimisation of the hotel’s energy consumption.
Return on Investment: Remarkably, the return on investment for these upgrades was achieved in less than three months, highlighting the efficiency and effectiveness of the implemented solutions.
The Novotel and Ibis Melbourne Central at 399 Little Lonsdale Street has been recognised for its exemplary energy efficiency initiatives, earning the following awards:
Sustainability Leadership Award by the Green Building Council of Australia
